Sperling Kronberg Mack Holocaust Resoure Center

Mission

The Sperling Kronberg Mack Holocaust Resource Center serves the community, highlighting Holocaust awareness and offering a variety of learning opportunities. The Center serves the Nevada Governor’s Advisory Council on Education Relating to the Holocaust by providing print, non-print, and electronic resources to the public, and developing programs for the education of issues relating to the Holocaust, tolerance, and diversity.

Services

General services include:

  • General and reference services: information and referral, circulation of materials, bibliographic searches, preparation of bibliographies, research assistance, library instruction, readers’ advisory, current awareness, study guidance, etc.
  • Programming: adult and student reading programs, library aide internships, book review and discussion groups, author visits, special programs that coordinate with curriculum, and school programming about the Holocaust.
  • Exhibits and displays: independent exhibits, as well as those in conjunction with themes, speakers, or programming presented by the institution’s affiliated groups. Specific services include:
    1. Teaching students and teachers about the Holocaust.
    2. Providing resource materials for educators and students.

Goals

The primary goal of the Sperling Kronberg Mack Holocaust Resource Center Library is to provide material that meets the needs of the Governor’s Council on Holocaust education. Specifically, the Sperling Kronberg Mack Holocaust Resource Center Library shall:

  1. Provide material and services which help implement, enrich, and support all the programs of the Governor’s Council on Holocaust education;
  2. Reflect the varied interests, abilities, and maturity levels of the community;
  3. Provide instruction and assistance in using and locating materials in the library;
  4. Encourage reading for information and pleasure.

The library will expand and update its collection to reflect the current and future needs of its community.

The library will cooperate with other libraries and community institutions for the purposes of achieving these goals.
